The first batch of Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine has been delivered to Azerbaijan
The first batch of Sputnik V vaccines was delivered to Azerbaijan from Russia on May 2. Initially, the plane carrying 40,000 doses of vaccine landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The plane carrying the vaccine was met by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Health Minister Viktor Gasimov, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov and other officials.
Khalaf Khalafov told reporters that the delivery of the first batch of Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus to Azerbaijan is another manifestation of the close friendship, cooperation and strategic ties with Russia: “I hope that as a result of this cooperation our countries will be successful in combating the pandemic. Azerbaijan's international cooperation in the fight against the pandemic will be further expanded. All this is aimed at the welfare of our people and their health. "
Ambassador Mikhail Bocharnikov expressed satisfaction with the delivery of the first batch of Sputnik V vaccine to Baku on a special day - Easter: "Easter is to address people with peace and kindness. Bringing the vaccine to Baku is a friendly gesture of Russia towards Azerbaijan. The vaccine will contribute to Azerbaijan's fight against coronavirus infection.
According to him, the Sputnik V vaccine has shown itself very well in the world and has already been registered in 64 countries around the world: "The numbers speak for themselves. Russia is doing its best to help brotherly Azerbaijan in the fight against the pandemic. I am confident that today's action will serve to further strengthen the very close and friendly relations between our countries. "
In turn, Viktor Gasimov noted that the effective way to combat the pandemic is to vaccinate the population: “As you know, vaccination began in Azerbaijan in January this year. As a result of the political support and daily control of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, more than 2 million vaccines have already been delivered to the country. The first Chinese vaccine was used. Then "AstraZeneca" vaccines were brought. "Today we have witnessed the arrival of the Sputnik V vaccine."
According to him, Sputnik V is highly effective: "About 1 million of our citizens have already been vaccinated, and this process continues successfully." Russia and Azerbaijan have close relations, and the arrival of vaccines today is a clear example of this.
On March 11, Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed an order on the import of 300,000 doses of Sputnik V from Russia to Azerbaijan.
