June 17 - Professional Day of Medical Workers of the Republic of Azerbaijan

According to the Order signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on June 4, 2001, June 17 is celebrated in our country as the Professional Day of Medical Workers.
The medical profession is a daily job that requires kindness, professionalism and compassion. Today, no matter how advanced medical technology and the health care system as a whole, the health worker will always be a key figure in the protection of human life and health.
In the most difficult moments, in the most difficult days when we feel uncomfortable, we turn to the medical staff, who have a white profession. No matter what time of night or day we turn to them, they always listen to us attentively, relieve our pain with their healing hands, and cure our sorrows.
From the first day of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, all hopes were pinned on them. Doctors are still at work as the global threat to humanity spreads. During the 44-day Second Karabakh War, the sons of the Fatherland returned our lands, which we had lost for almost thirty years, at the expense of their blood and lives. At that time we were fighting on two fronts. One of them was the Karabakh front, and the other was the front against COVID-19. During the Patriotic War, medical brigades were sent to the frontline in three directions, and medical workers acted with great enthusiasm. In addition to providing first aid to the wounded in the frontline, these brigades transported some of the seriously wounded to hospitals in relatively remote cities and districts. There were medical workers who did not want to work in the rotation system, did not want to come back, and wanted to extend their working hours.
Today we thank all the professionals involved in the health system. Doctors, pharmacists, laboratory assistants, nurses, paramedics, law enforcement officers have one task - to provide high quality and timely medical care to the population. This is a noble mission, and each of you contributes to its implementation.
On this holiday, we wish all the noble professionals peace, happiness, prosperity, health and optimism!
