Coronavirus infection in Azerbaijan is approaching 20,000, 6 people have died

Another 534 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Azerbaijan on Friday.

The Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers announced that 471 people had recovered and 6 had died.

So far, 19801 people have been infected with coronavirus in Azerbaijan. 11291 of them recovered and 241 died.

To date, the number of active patients is 8269 people.

According to the operational headquarters, 509,811 tests were conducted in the country over the past period. Today's test number is 6846.

The first case of coronavirus infection in Azerbaijan was registered on February 28.

The special quarantine regime, which has been in force since March 24, has been extended until August 1.

The Cabinet of Ministers has eased the special quarantine regime since May 4. In June, the agency began a home isolation regime on weekends to prevent coronavirus.

On June 19, the special quarantine regime was extended until August 1, and a decision was made on a strict regime in some cities and regions.

The operative headquarters said that there are some requirements from citizens to prevent the spread of the infection:

Behaving in accordance with isolation measures,
Only leave the house when there is a serious need,
Minimum contact with other people,
Not to go to crowded places,
Strictly adhere to the terms of existing preventive measures
At present, cases of coronavirus infection in Azerbaijan are not only detected among people coming to the country from abroad, but also the fact that people are already infecting each other within the country, the organization said.

Although the Cabinet of Ministers did not name specific cities and regions, it said that there were cases of infection among people living in different regions of Azerbaijan.

Officials say that families with young children, the elderly, people in need of medical care, women continue to be brought to Azerbaijan from other countries with quarantine for 14-21 days, with limited preference and, if necessary, within the established schedule.

About 10,000 Azerbaijani citizens have been evacuated so far.

"… Some people abuse the evacuation when they do not need it, refuse to return when the evacuation plane is sent and claim to send a" special "plane for evacuation, and hide their contacts with people infected with the COVID-19 virus abroad. "There are also unfortunate and irresponsible cases, such as misinformation and attempts to obstruct the lawful activities of government agencies and to discredit the work of the state," the statement said.

The government said that the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country were based on the possibility of receiving people from quarantine stations in Azerbaijan during the return of citizens.

In some countries, there are still Azerbaijanis waiting to be evacuated.
